The Golf Business was formed in 1999 by golf journalist, Declan O'Donoghue. This dynamic Irish company is totally devoted to golf. It is an independently owned and managed business.

The core activity of the enterprise is golf publishing. The flagship title is national publication Backspin Golf Magazine (1999-2018), produced in print and online formats. The company also created dedicated travel supplement Portugal Pure Golf Country (launched 1999) and the famous Leopardstown Golf Centre's complimentary patrons magazine Leopardstown Golf News (launched 2007). 

Between 2000 and 2010 The Golf Business produced The Irish Ladies Golf Union's Handbook, Championship Magazine and pocket diary.

The company's commitment to exceptional standards is clearly reflected in its choice of print, graphics and design partners...all to the forefront of their respective businesses in Ireland.

Other activities include Golf Media Services, Public Relations in Golf, Golf Photography and Player Representation. The Golf Business represents European Senior Tour player Philip Walton (click on 'Philip Walton' icon above).

Declan O'Donoghue, founder and managing director of The Golf Business, has spent a lifetime immersed in golf. In 2020 he will celebrate 45-years involved in the Irish and international golf media industry. He is a member of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), Association of Golf Writers (AGW) and Irish Golf Writers' Association (IGWA). He is publisher-editor of the company's golf titles.

During his career he has provided expert analysis on golfing topics for various Irish radio stations.  He has also appeared as a golf panellist on Setanta Sports Ireland and has written articles on behalf of the PGA Irish Region for inclusion in the Irish Independent's weekly golf supplement.

Declan was the founder of Ireland's high profile Legends Golf Society in 1990. The society has honoured some of the biggest names in golf, including Peter Thomson, John Jacobs, Peter Alliss, Peter Dobereiner, Doug Sanders, Michael Bonallack and Mark McCormack (click on 'Legends GS'  icon above).
